You`re a tool

The “young” folks reading are already lol (laughing out loud), because they use the phrase “You’re a tool” in a derogatory sense. Being described as a “tool” in today’s vernacular would be like being referred to as a “moron” in my generation or a “bonehead” in my father’s. Although God doesn’t exactly use the phrase “You’re a tool,” he suggests it and means it in a challenging and functional way. In a letter, Paul reminded the 10-year old church in Ephesus of God’s perspective, we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Reading these lines was a welcome reminder to me that church is not a consumer exercise. It’s an action adventure neither designed primarily for or oriented toward ourselves, but others. Tyler reminded us in his powerful message Sunday that God’s heart is filled with his compassion for the lost, and that a primary tool is his church…those of us claiming to follow Jesus. As we develop as a church, let’s always remember why we exist…to honor him, of course…but to reach the lost. Tyler also suggested one of the best ways we can cooperate with God is to pray for the lost. Who are you praying for? So, please, don’t be mad at me for calling you a tool. Talk to God.

Thanks for this reminder. Tyler’s message definitely helped me to open my heart to the “lost” in my life.

We know it but often don’t engage in it. Our lives and others are changed by it, but we don’t often recognize it. Luke 18:2-8 is one of Jesus’ teachings on it and Luke 18:1 tells us WHY Jesus taught the lesson. It can be done anywhere and anytime; God always responds in His way and in His time. Would we want it any other way?

Greetings from Los Angeles, California!! Upon going to church this morning in Hollywood, I was reminded of Vista during the service!! I know God is blessing your church, so I just wanted to send a word of encouragement! Mike, way to be a TOOL (for God, of course) haha
Thanks for your 3 Cents!
